RESULTS | Stop #4 of Volcom WITP European Tour 2014 | Eindhoven, The Netherlands

The best thing about having a Wild In The Parks in the Area 51 Skatepark in Eindhoven is that the level of skating is so frikkin high!. With Local Rippers as Daan and Job van der Linden, Nick Bax and Pim the Rijk you know that the battle for the top place will be a gnarly one.

The day started off with a smooth looking course provided by the friendly people of Area 51. Within an hour the coarse was flooding with little rippers who all wanted to show their best moves and get some free burgers. In the first qualification heats you could immediately see that the level amongst riders under the age of 15 was getting more impressive each year. With tricks down the double set, flips over a barrel and the flyover being put to good use it was a super sick contest to watch.

After the kids under 15 it was time for the sponsored division. The level was so high the judges had a hard time figuring out who was going to proceed to the finals. Rippers such as Bart Buikman, Teun Janssen, the Van der Linden brothers and the Martens Brothers to name a few I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes.

After the qualification heats it was time for some good burgers and chicken. There was way too much food so everybody was stuffed before the rest of the contest. Luckily only 30 kids had to skate the finals.  First of the Final heats was the unsponsored 15 and up division. Sjoerd was shredding so hard it was a unanimous vote that he had to win the contest. With halfcab boardslides bigspin out on lock he was a hard one to beat!

In the finals for the youngest of them all it was a close call between Kevin, Elvis and Raul. In the end Kevin took the title and a fat package of goodies. Immediately after that the big boys started off with a 15 minute long “Hammerfest”. New kids like Mano, David and Magic had a hard time coping with the assault that the top 6 was throwing all over the course. The Top 5 featured Nick Bax(flyover bs tail down the hubba a.o.) Teun Janssen(flyover nosegrind down the flatbar a.o.) Daan van der Linden (bs 270 backlip 270 out a.o.) Daniel Martens (treflip lipslide a.o.) and The obvious hardest ripper of the day Job van der Linden with a list of tricks to long to name but here’s a few: heelflip bs tail on the flatbar, Sw fs Heel down the double set and unfortunately after the time he threw in a switch fs tail 270 for the crowd!

It was a super fun day thanks to Peter, Andre, Chanelva and Kimberly of Area 51, Femke Vogels, Our Judges: Rudy, Robbin, Jerry, Pascal and Patrick and everybody that showed up!

Euro Thrash Video: Volcom Surf's European Vacation
Our good friends at Wasted Talent put together a video of some of our riders: Noa Deane, Ryan Burch, Gony Zubizarreta, and more, thrashing their way through Portugal, Spain, and France during their summer '17 European vacation. From scoring one of the best days of surf they've ever seen at The Cave, to touring the local watering holes and taverns, to getting caught up in a weird presidental campaign in Paris, there was no shortage of amusement and European debauchery. It was a great trip that surely lived up to its name: Euro Thrash. The team riders, photographers, and crew, all became great friends by the end of the trip and ended on a promise to all return back soon. Euro Thrash 2.0?

The Film Project BCN event recap
This last summer some of the best skateboarding photographers in Europe were given 3 film rolls to shoot. The idea was to use them as they wanted and ship them back for this The Film Project initiative supported by Volcom. The result it´s been really exciting as it usually happens with analog photography. Forty pictures were selected and put together in this first exhibition which took place in Studio Store venue, located in the Borne neighborhood in Barcelona last October the 4th. Lots of skateboarders and analog photography lovers showed up to see the works while they shared some fresh Pabst Blue Ribbon beers. If you missed it, stay tuned for some more dates around Euro cities to be confirmed and check #TheFilmProject2017 hashtag for peeping a bit. Some select pics will feature in the finest skate magazines in Europe. Thanks to Pabst Spain for the colds, Dogway crew and all the contributing photographers for making it happen. The photos will be exhibited in various locations throughout October and November, stay tuned for a show/party near you! Leuven Skate Contest
The Leuven Family gathered once again for Leuven Skate Contest. Every year they have a new theme, this time they went all the way with JOHNNY’S & MARINAS. There wasn’t just a costume contest, beers and bbq. No, there was some skateboarding also. You’ve never seen a bowl and street contest this friendly and fun. Simon Deprez took the win with the Volcom best trick contest. Everybody killed it but one guy stood out, he protected his hometown and his title as biggest Johnny of them all, so Jonathan Thijs took the win. And there is no better Johnny prize than a Scooter. Once again, big thanks to the Leuven Family, Twits Skateshop and Volcom. See y’all next year. Credit Photo : Joselito Verschaeve
