Alex Midler's Roll-A-Thon

Last Sunday on October 20th, Alex Midler held his third Annual 'Roll-A-Thon' to benefit the 'Johnny Kicks Cancer Foundation'. The mission of 'Johnny Kicks Cancer' is to cure childhood leukemia through awareness and funding for cutting-edge research, as well as to empower and encourage patients, families and doctors in their fight against the number one childhood cancer.  We had raffles for $1,000 shopping sprees at Volcom and Deluxe, as well as a paid trip to Camp Woodward. There was also food from Wahoo's,  ice cream from Ian's Ice Cream and a silent auction for a bunch of awesome gift packs from various companies who were generous enough to donate product for the event! Check out the photos below to see what went down!

We started to meet up at the Volcom headquarters around noon, kids were allowed to skate our private skatepark as long as they signed a waiver.

Let's Roll!!

DSC02757

We started our roll from the headquarters here in Costa Mesa and rolled down to the Huntington Beach Pier, about 11.6 miles round trip!

DSC02770

The route included a nice hill bomb before we had brief trek through the woods to get to the bike path along the Santa Ana River that would bring us down to the Huntington Beach boardwalk.

Some decided to run through the dirt path... maybe they were just trying to catch up with Busenitz

There were a bunch of great items at the silent auction and towards the end bidding wars began to start. It was all in good fun though and everyone was pretty happy at the end of it all!

Euro Thrash Video: Volcom Surf's European Vacation
Our good friends at Wasted Talent put together a video of some of our riders: Noa Deane, Ryan Burch, Gony Zubizarreta, and more, thrashing their way through Portugal, Spain, and France during their summer '17 European vacation. From scoring one of the best days of surf they've ever seen at The Cave, to touring the local watering holes and taverns, to getting caught up in a weird presidental campaign in Paris, there was no shortage of amusement and European debauchery. It was a great trip that surely lived up to its name: Euro Thrash. The team riders, photographers, and crew, all became great friends by the end of the trip and ended on a promise to all return back soon. Euro Thrash 2.0?

Leuven Skate Contest
The Leuven Family gathered once again for Leuven Skate Contest. Every year they have a new theme, this time they went all the way with JOHNNY’S & MARINAS. There wasn’t just a costume contest, beers and bbq. No, there was some skateboarding also. You’ve never seen a bowl and street contest this friendly and fun. Simon Deprez took the win with the Volcom best trick contest. Everybody killed it but one guy stood out, he protected his hometown and his title as biggest Johnny of them all, so Jonathan Thijs took the win. And there is no better Johnny prize than a Scooter. Once again, big thanks to the Leuven Family, Twits Skateshop and Volcom. See y’all next year. Credit Photo : Joselito Verschaeve
